The Blue Ridge Double
Issaqueena's Last Ride (April 24, 2010)
& The Tour de Cashiers (May 1,
2010)
Back to back weekends of Blue Ridge Mountain Cycling!!!
The Blue Ridge Double is a cooperative event
featuring the Tour de
Cashiers and, on the preceding weekend (April 24) Issaqueena's Last
Ride. Issaqueena's Last Ride offers 32, 61 and 100-mile loops out of
Walhalla, SC. The two longer rides first tour the foothills of the
Blue Ridge and then climb the Blue Ridge Escarpment. From there it's a
long descent back to Walhalla on the ridge that separates the Chattooga River valley from upstate South Carolina.
After ILR's introduction to the Blue Ridge foothills and mountains,
rest up for a week, and then ride the Tour de Cashiers (www.tourdecashiers.com
), which takes you to higher elevations and into the heart of the
North Carolina Blue Ridge. Together, you get two weekends of mountain
immersion -- great training for whatever else may be in your season's
riding plans, or just a wonderful time enjoying spring in the rural
mountains, up close on a bicycle.
Later this year, we will open a separate web site for
The Blue Ridge
Double, offering single-step registration for both rides, and a
discount off the normal early registration fee for each ride.
About the ride….
Issaqueena’s Last Ride is a challenging, mountain ride through the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of South Carolina. The
century features a cumulative elevation gain
of 8900 feet highlighted by the climb toward Whitewater Falls and Wigington Overlook. Grades reach 14%. The metric, though shorter, includes the major climb. The 32-mile is hilly but does not stretch to the mountains.
Please know your strength and do not over-reach.
Registration fee includes tee-shirt, map, breakfast, after race meal, SAG, rest stops, and marked route.
You must pre-register by April 19
to be guaranteed a tee-shirt.
